Core Concepts
The handful of ideas the rest of the docs build on.
The terms
| Concept | What it means |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Where projects, members, billing and settings live. You can belong to several and switch between them. |
| Project | One thing you are building — a site, a deck, a game. It has a build type, a name and, once published, an address. |
| Build type | What a project is. It decides the engine, and so what you can do with the result. |
| Engine | How a build type is made: the Site Spec engine (websites and documents), the sandbox engine (interactive builds), the App Spec engine (React Native) and the Game Spec engine (3D games). |
| Site Spec | The validated description of a site — its pages, sections, words, images and theme. Websites are rendered from it. |
| Mode | How much work a build does: Lite, Economy or Power. It never changes what can be built, only how many passes run. |
| Credits | What builds are paid in. 100 credits is $1, and a build is charged for what it actually cost. |
| Skill | A one-click, expert edit — or a reusable instruction you save yourself. |
| Connector | A tool you connect so the site uses it — a payment link on a button, or a place to send form leads. |
| Publish | Putting a project live at an address. Publishing again replaces what visitors see. |
Edits are not rebuilds
Asking for a change in the builder sends your current project with the request, under a rule that everything not asked about stays as it is. Only an explicit “start over” builds from scratch. See Regeneration.
